Germany supplies Marder tanks to Ukraine

After hesitating for a long time to supply Ukraine with heavy weapons like tanks, the Germans are now bowing to pressure from the USA. In coordination with U.S. President Joe Biden, Chancellor Olaf Scholz has agreed to supply Ukraine with the “Marder” (eng: marten) infantry fighting vehicle, which was developed more than 50 years ago.

In this way, the Chancellor is bowing not only to pressure from the United States, but also from left-wing political parties in Germany – first and foremost “Die Gruenen” (eng: the Greens). At the same time, the U.S. has agreed to supply more Patriot air defense systems.

Since the U.S. arms industry naturally needs further orders, the war must continue. Therefore, a 36-hour ceasefire announced by Russia was immediately rejected by Ukraine. The Greens are salivating and drooling with glee, even though they always pretended to be pacifist before the conflict broke out. As recently as August 2021 – just before the last elections – the Greens were still saying “No weapons and armaments to war zones” (caption on title image of this post).
